Surroundings
Chata Rosnatka is located in Kvilda, in the heart of the Šumava National Park. In summer it is an ideal starting point for hiking and cycling, in winter for cross-country and downhill skiing.
The village of Kvilda
Kvilda lies at an altitude of 1,065 m and is the highest-situated village in the Czech Republic. You will find a beautiful church, the municipal office with the Kvilda museum, a modern information centre with a screening room, a local brewery, a shop, a post office and two pastry shops.
Summer and winter in Šumava
In summer, hiking and cycling routes lead from Kvilda into the Šumava countryside. There is also a deer park near the village.
In winter, Kvilda offers groomed cross-country trails and two easy ski lifts. More demanding downhill skiers have these resorts within reach:

Teplá Vltava (Warm Vltava)
The longest Czech river rises near Kvilda on the eastern slope of Černá hora, at an altitude of 1,172 m, where it is called Černý potok. For the first five kilometres it flows through unspoiled Šumava countryside and, after joining the Kvildský potok, continues through the valley past the chalet towards Borová Lada. From there it travels through the South Bohemian landscape and through Prague all the way to Mělník, where it flows into the Elbe.
